Prince William Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in Brazil

Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in South America in the coming weeks, as confirmed by palace sources.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a reception ahead of the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The royal pair were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the United Kingdom administration.

Climate Leadership Dedication

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio before the COP summit.

Royal sources have characterized William's involvement at the forthcoming conference as taking on an important role in "global climate discussions".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were welcomed attendees such as environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.

This involvement included speaking in concert with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco during the current year.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The UN meeting will align with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in the Brazilian city the day before he joins the COP summit on the sixth of November.

Last week the William described the prize competitors as "contemporary champions".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a influential participant at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the survival risks confronting humanity over planetary heating, climate change and species extinction," the King told delegates.
